The Chinese Douyin makeup technique

The Chinese Douyin makeup technique has become one of the most popular in the world, already gaining more than 1.3 million views on TikTok.

This kind of makeup is not Chinese at all. Everything is quite simpler than it might seem at first glance. In general, Douyin is the name of Tik Tok in China. The application was created for sharing videos within the country, but due to its growing popularity, its international version was released. The difference between Douyin and Tik Tok is only in the scale of censorship in the Middle Kingdom.

By the way, outside of China, douyin is often used without a soft sign. Makeup artists like to contrast it with European makeup with bleached eyebrows and cold brown lipstick – douin uses fairly warm and soft shades that emphasize natural beauty and natural appearance. And special attention is paid to the radiance of the skin, as it visually makes the face more voluminous and prominent.

Sometimes glitter is added to the inner corners or center of the eyelids.

To do douyin style makeup, you will need a light foundation. Some makeup artists prefer to use shimmer, others prefer matte and highlighter. They explain this by the fact that contrasting textures make the appearance even more expressive. Usually two shadows are also applied to the eyes: darker ones on the upper eyelid and lighter ones on the lower one.

Eyebrows are left as natural as possible and are usually combed in the direction of hair growth with colored wax. But it is customary to style eyelashes in sharp tufts, like the heroines of manga comics, or simply extend them with lengthening mascara. With blush, it is also customary not to waste time on trifles and shade them literally from the apple of the cheek to the eyes. Pink haze, according to Chinese women, makes them angelically beautiful or, at least, very feminine and romantic.

The contour of the lips is made as smooth as possible and, rather, even blurred, so that from the outside it resembles “floating” lipstick. In general, Chinese makeup is good because it is very difficult to ruin it even in the hands of a non-professional: muted shades prevent you from going overboard with color, and light textures prevent you from overloading the skin with makeup. And if you place accents correctly with highlighter – apply it to the most prominent points of the face – this will already be half the success of douin.
